Obama's Gay Talk

Obama did not fail to use his African tour to pitch for the gays, especially in Senegal where he met President Macky Sall. To say that his pitch failed was an understatement and one wonders the rationale behind his attempt at decriminalizing same sex liaisons in Senegal  and Africa as a whole considering he is dealing with a continent that is very traditional and religious. Hear him:

“While different customs and religions should be respected, the law should treat everybody equally.
Senegal, a mainly Muslim country has never experienced a coup, is one of America's "strongest partners" on the continent.
"It's moving in the right direction with reforms to deepen democratic institutions, and as more Africans across this continent stand up and demand governments that are accountable and serve the people, I believe Senegal can be a great example."

Ok so Obama thinks lauding our prevailing democratic institutions would be enough to psyche us into decriminalizing? Anyway Nigeria has been spared the gay talk because we've been indicted by Boko Haram Insurgency, same applies to Kenya due to Uhuru Kenyatta’s case at the ICC

Find below a map showing countries that have legalized gay rights in Africa and those still holding tight to traditional and religious  norms.

Here’s a poser:

Based on the above map, Can you think of reasons why countries in the grey areas were able to embrace homosexuality? And which countries amongst the red zones do you think may at the long run legalize theirs based on varying reasons?

  1. In extending the approaches to same-sex sinful carnality, our government is engrossed in this dirty abnormality. we are not being married consensually but being raped by an insensitive leadership every second. we are being raped economically and politically by a senseless leadership and system and its disheartening. whats worse than same-sex marriages? The endowed and inflicted poverty upon the people of Nigeria is worse than same-sex marriages. Why cant our NASS proscribe corruption? Corruption is also terrorism in a non-violent manner and its akin to same-sex marriage
