Nigeria's Bazaar Of Blood

Nigeria is sure becoming notorious for its recurrent air mishaps and as usual, people are nervous. Truth be told, in my private musings, I’ve wondered which air carrier would go down next and I’ve promised myself to face Jibowu  next time I intend travelling. Not because I’m a pessimist but because I’ve realized there’s a problem somewhere . Not that our roads are faring better though but methinks with the current situation of things, it’s a better alternative considering experts feel the Nigerian sky has become one of the most dangerous places for aircraft in non-war situation. Who wants to be a casualty?

MIC Director and Son who were aboard too
Someone called these air crashes a “bazaar of blood” which I was quick  to wave off as exaggeration until I read Sahara Reporters’ newsflash today where a Saudi Arabia bound Kabo Air carrying 400 passengers that left Aminu Kano Airport had a near miss and had to crash land when the tyres bursted into flames immediately after take off. Go read up and tell me something’s not wrong.

The embarrassing part of these incidences is that it takes happenings like this to realize how incompetent various sectors are;  each day we keep getting a different  list of who died and who survived and from the look of it, the authorities aren’t getting it right either.  I saw an “unidentified male” in the list!!! Whatever happened to the manifest? Or do charter planes not go through the same rigorous task of having a detailed list of who boards their aircrafts?

Late Olusegun Agagu
Let’s not forget the various emerging conspiracy theories which I won’t even go into before I get lynched . And to those upset that Agagu’s family went ahead to bury their dead and did not wait in deference to the families of the crash victims. Would that have been the best course of action? what would you have them do?
