How Colourful Is Your Partner’s Past?

When it comes to relationships, the more you dig, the more dirt you’ll unearth because everyone’s got a past, no one is a saint. The question is how far are you willing to go when doing background checks? Aren’t you better off not knowing how colourful your partner’s past is? They say “what you don’t know won’t kill you? And I agree totally. Letting your partner’s past take control of your relationship will consume and destroy any relationship. Realize that you have committed to each other and the past belongs in the past. Concentrate on what really matters and deal with issues as they arise. In every relationship, communication is the key to moving on but don’t forget to set boundaries regarding unsavoury details Remember everyone has a baggage because it’s a necessary by-product of life; learning to cope with your feelings will improve your ability to move past your partner’s past. Remember that when you accept your partner into your life; you accept all facets - both good and bad. Former relationships and exes should be given a wide berth, you sure don’t want your partner to question how well you’ve moved on from your past. On a final note, before my crowd starts their raising eyebrows, this isn’t about me, its for You,You and You……….. Because we make this mistake at one point or the other.

  2. I do not agree with you, its better you know first and deal with it, than some of the things in his/her the past surfacing at one point.

What you re ingorant of might kill you, you know

  6. It is better to dig as much as you can dig and come to an understanding of who you are committing to for the rest of your life. This is better than playing the ostrich, which may be disastrous when unacceptable facts from the past catches up with the present.
It is preferable to test your Emotional intelligence by knowing everything about your partners colourful past and accept him or her for what he/she was then and now, than to live in delusion.

  7. I guess knowing about your partners past is very important, but what to do with the knowledge is what matters most.
